
First Choice Dressage is a competition/training yard with a few liveries. It is a professional, friendly yard with well mannered horses from young to old. I am an accredited dressage coach and compete to a high level in dressage as well as producing home-bred young horses for competition.
This is voluntary work experience for up to 10 weeks. A Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. Work placement
Trainee to work alongside an experienced groom in the care and handling of competition horses, young-stock and liveries.
Feeding horses both in stables and out in the field, changing rugs, turning in and out, grooming picking out feet, mucking out and sweeping the yard, poo picking and filling haynets.
Possibility to attend competition to help.
This Traineeship opportunity is UNPAID Work Experience as part of an entry to work course for those aged from 16 up to 24 years old who are unemployed and not in education.
You will complete work experience 2 – 4 days a week and complete ½ a day remote learning.
This Traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is the Work Preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high quality work experience placement.

Training to be provided
This Traineeship opportunity includes work preparation training, Functional Skills maths and English support for those who require it and a high quality work experience placement.
Training to be provided by the employer, supported KEITS. This will include one half day a week remote learning with your assessor.
You will be working towards an Entry 3/Level 1 Qualification - Developing Skills in the Land based Industry which will include the following units:
- Health and Safety in an Animal Care Workplace
- Working in Animal Care
- Caring for Animals: Feeding and Grooming
- Cleaning & Maintaining Animal Accommodation
- Applying for a job
- Conduct at work
- Making the most of work placement
- Listen and Respond
- Making Calculations
Future prospects
On successful completion of the programme you will receive a certificate of completion and an employer reference as a minimum, to support future job applications.
There may be opportunities to progress into an apprenticeship or employment with training or further education.

Things to consider
Not easy to access via public transport.
You will be working mainly outside in all weathers so a good coat and boots are essential.
