Vacancy Description

We are looking for an ambitious, hard working, enthusiastic individual willing to soak up knowledge of how we work as a small highly recommended design & landscape company. Someone to enjoy working on our projects seeing them develop from start to finish. It will be a rewarding role if you are keen to develop skills in all areas of design, soft & hard landscaping. We are looking for someone who can mix well with clients, work colleagues and other tradespeople we thrive in an cheerful environment. You will need to have a strong work ethic & be physically fit as there will be some heavy lifting involved. Outdoor, all weather work on your feet all day.

A wide variety of skills will be supported, such as:

  • Carpentry
  • Decking
  • Fencing
  • Landscape construction
  • Surveying a site
  • Planting skills and plant knowledge

We meet on site 7.50am, ready to start at 8am. Discuss goals for the day and set up/check tools & equipment required. Check materials being delivered etc. May have to liaise with delivery drivers, There will always be a variety of daily manual work - every day is different. You will be part of a
small independent landscape company building bespoke gardens. Days differ, one day there may be 2 people constructing, other days we may have 5. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone wanting a physical job with a desire to learn an array of trade skills in landscape gardening & horticulture.

Desired skills

  • Be able to see a garden design/plan on paper & have an idea how that relates to working garden space
  • Good communicator with other staff & customers
  • IT literate

  • To be able to work alone or in a team
  • Punctual, conscientious and presentable
  • Never be afraid to ask how to do something
  • Able to use initiative

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE, or equivalent, Grade C/4 or higher is required for this position
  • A Full UK Driving License required or the means to get transport to site

Future prospects

  • To learn all aspects of running a garden landscaping business, from initial survey, design process, quantifying, ordering, construction through to project completion
  • To become team leader / project manager of established business with good reputation & excellent customer recognition
