Folly Farm

We are a small family run 5 star rated licensed riding school and livery yard based in Yaxley, Peterborough. We offer a wide range of ridden and non-ridden activities for all ages including lessons, clinics, pony days and camps and natural horsemanship. We are also an approved Pony club centre. We are well known for being fun, friendly and professional and are looking for an apprentice to join the folly family.

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed individual looking to further their skills and knowledge. The successful candidate will work alongside our current team caring for our riding school and livery horses, helping with day to day activities and assisting with lessons, pony days and other activities. There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their coaching.

A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on.

The successful candidate will not only be involved in every day stable management skills, but also assisting with the running of a wide range of activities.

Some duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Feeding and turning in/out of horses
  • Stable management and maintenance
  • Grooming, clipping and trimming
  • Exercising, including hacking & schooling
  • Assisting with riding school activities

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, hard working team, and develop not only your horse care skills and knowledge by working towards your Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship. Further opportunities for Level 3 and to train in coaching may also be available afterwards.

Desired qualifications

GCSE or equivalent or Functional Skills in maths and English desirable but not essential.

Things to consider

There is no accommodation on site, own transport would be desirable although we have good public transport links.

This job is working with horses, which means it can involve long days in all weathers and include weekend working. It is important the candidates applying for this position are aware of this.
