Training & Assessment Consultant - Horse Care

This position is based in Hertfordshire & surrounding regions

Applicants for the above post will have relevant vocational qualifications, current industrial experience and a belief in work based training. The applicants will preferably hold D32/33 or A1 and D34 or V1. Salary commensurate with qualifications & previous experience in the range of £18,500 - £25,000.

Dibgate Farm Livery

Dibgate Farm Livery is a professional livery yard which caters for the needs of the everyday horse owner and the professional rider alike, based in Sundridge, Kent.

We currently have a vacancy for a Full Time Apprentice with full training and assessment given to the right applicant to gain their NVQ Level 2 in Horse Care, with the opportunity to progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship.

If you are looking to start a career with horses and would like to train and earn a wage we are looking for a hard working, dedicated team member, ideally with your own method of transport.

The position is for a 5 day week to be flexible and may include 1 weekend day, from 8.30am to 5pm. You will receive training on stable management and riding (Optional) from a Qualified Instructor.

The position will start at the beginning of May 2010, if you have your own horse we may also be able to accommodate.

Post: Apprenticeship Support Consultant

Salary Range:
£24,250 - £28,000 per annum, negotiable dependent on qualifications and experience.  This will be paid monthly in arrears via direct transfer to your bank account. 

Job Description
Responsible for identifying and matching Apprentices with businesses and providing information, advice and guidance as part of a mentoring role to support them within industry.

Term:
Full time based on 38 hours per week, however, please be advised that this is not a 9.00am – 5.00pm position and a flexible approach is essential.
This is a 1 year fixed term contract, reviewable annually and please note that as a government funded enterprise, should such funding cease the post will be automatically terminated.
There will be a six-month probationary period with development reviews at three and six months and an annual appraisal and development review thereafter.

Responsible to:
In the first instance to the Operations Manager and in their absence, to the Chairman of the SEAC Board.

Working Arrangements:
The position requires the post holder to be home based and with the ability to travel flexibly on a daily basis and with access to the wider SEAC region.
A laptop computer and necessary accessories will be provided and the post holder must have access to a broadband connection.
A mobile phone and accessories will be provided for business use only.  Any additional / personal costs will be charged to the user.
An in depth induction programme will be provided.
You will be expected to be professionally / appropriately dressed at all times.

Optional entry in to SEAC contributory pension scheme after one years service – details available at interview.
Private Medical Insurance after six months service.
Holiday: 20 days per annum to fit in with the SEAC team, plus 8 days statutory holidays. 
Bonus holiday days available after two years service, details will be made available to the successful applicant. 
Continuing Professional Development identified and agreed as a result of the SEAC Staff Development and Appraisal training will be funded by SEAC.  The costs of any staff development / CPD activity undertaken by the post holder and funded by SEAC will be repayable to SEAC, should the post holder leave SEAC employment of their own volition, within a 12 month period from when the costs were incurred. 

 
Roles and Responsibilities:

1. To identify, engage and match Apprentices with all secured employers and support them to ensure levels of achievement as determined by the SEAC Board
2. Provide feedback to unsuitable applicants and advise as to appropriate steps to take to prepare for a further application, together with signposting suitable training
3. Assist in preparing potential Apprentices for employment interviews, including research and practice interviews
4. Induct potential Apprentices as to the expectations of employers and SEAC, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity and the probation period
5. In conjunction with the Employer Engagement Consultant, employer and Apprentice finalise the training plan and subsequently monitor its’ delivery
6. Undertake multi-agency liaison as necessary to the effective running and improved performance of the company
7. Comply with SEAC documented systems and quality assurance processes
8. Undertake all administrative requirements of the post, including necessary MIS, to ensure detailed recording and clear audit trails
9. Attend all meetings, events and conferences as, when and where required by the Operations Manager and / or the SEAC Board
10. Take part in annual staff appraisal review and development process and undertake development and training as required by the SEAC Board to support you in the effective undertaking of the post and the business as a whole
11. Comply with all SEAC policies and procedures particularly in regard to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Every Child Matters and Data Protection and assist SEAC staff, contracted employers and learners in embedding these cultures within the learning environment
12. Work closely with and support the Operations Manager and all other members of the SEAC team in the execution of their duties
13. Maintain at all times, a professional and friendly approach towards all stakeholders, colleagues, individuals and organisations with whom you come in to contact as a SEAC employee
14. Undertake any other reasonable role and or responsibility as determined by the SEAC Board to be within the general scope of the post
